NodeMCU V3 ESP8266 ESP-12E is WiFi development board that helps you to prototype your IoT product with few Lua script lines, or through Arduino IDE. The board is based on ESP8266 ESP-12E variant, unlike other ESP-12E, you won’t need to buy a separate breakout board, usb to serial adapter, or even solder it to a bread board to get started, you will only need a usb cable (Micro USB).
Features
- Wi-Fi Module – ESP-12E module similar to ESP-12 module but with 6 extra GPIOs.
- Programmable Smart WI-FI enabled Arduino-like hardware IO
- Advanced API for hardware IO, which can dramatically reduce the redundant work for configuring and manipulating hardware.
- Code like Arduino, but interactively in Lua script.
- Nodejs style network API
- WiFi at 2.4GHz, support WPA / WPA2 security mode
- Support UART / GPIO data communication interface
- Remote firmware upgrade (OTA)
- 4MByte built-in Flash Memory
- Event-driven API for network applications, which facilitates developers writing code running on a 5mm x 5mm sized MCU in Nodejs style.
- Greatly speed up your IOT application developing process.
- USB – micro USB port for power, programming and debugging
- Headers – 2x 2.54mm 15-pin header with access to GPIOs, SPI, UART, ADC, and power pins
- Misc – Reset and Flash buttons
- Power – 5V via micro USB port
- Dimensions – 49mm x 24.5mm x 13mm
Documentation
You can find the firmware source code and documentation on Github, as well as nodemcu-flasher, a Windows only tools to flash the firmware to a module. There’s also a separate tool called esptool that will let you flash nodemcu from Linux. In case you find the documentation is all over the place, you might want to checkout NodeMCU video tutorial below.
Nodemcu.com is the official website for the project, but you’ll find more information on Github. You can also get answers to your questions on their BBS or ESP8266 community forums.
